Swift has been a trending topic, and now that it has been open-sourced, the language becomes more relevant for platforms outside of Apple. Join us as we look at Swift 3 and XCode 8, and how to put together an iOS app from start to running on the iPhone.
We're going to hang out at the Machine Shed. Costs are:

Robert has been programming in one language or another since 1973, and has gained experience and insight over the years that has allowed him to adopt and adapt to new languages in a quickly changing industry. Swift is the latest in what has been a 43 year educational trek.

They're open from 4-8 pm, and the cost is flat per session, so if you feel like arriving early for longer gaming that's certainly fine.  They also sell snacks, drinks, and pizza, so you can come straight after work.

They are located at [https://www.google.com/maps/place/11+2nd+St+NE,+Rochester,+MN+55906/@44.0255146,-92.4643205,17z/ 11 2nd St NE], Rochester, MN 55906 in the east portion of the Wausau Homes building (look for the two large garage doors and the entry door).

6 pm, in or near RCTC Heintz Center's HA107.
Note that the signage is almost non-existent, they have a plain text-only sign on the appropriate door, but no big sign on the building.  The parking lot there IS for customers, or you can park on the street.  I won't be attending, you'll have to gather around someone else.

We probably won't have a November social unless someone has a specific request, as due to the approaching holiday season we tend to have very poor turnout this month.

Probably a board/card/video game night, any volunteers or suggestions for where to host?  This will be a replacement for our December technical meeting.

We need some meeting topics (& speakers) for 2016. We'd like to know what you want to see and hear about. Please email Tina or Jon G with suggestions for topics. Should we run some previous sessions again (maybe something you really wanted to see but missed out on)? What type of topics are good, what type are bad?  Also see this page for a list of suggested topics http://www.k-lug.org/Meetings

Note: To request a wiki account, please join the mailing list and post a message.

We can use presentations for upcoming meetings, please see a list of ideas if you're willing but lacking a topic.

LUG News

We generally meet monthly for technical presentations (2nd Thursday of the month, 6 pm, RCTC), and monthly for socializing (varies). We no longer meet monthly for lunches, if you are interested in reviving this tradition please contact an officer.

Did you used to be on our email list and suddenly haven't gotten email for months? We had a glitch and it caused many people to get unsubscribed; unfortunately Tina doesn't have a way of knowing who all we lost. Please use "Linux mailing list" on the left to get yourself re-added, sorry!
