Did you used to be on our email list and suddenly haven't gotten email for months?  We had a glitch and it caused many people to get unsubscribed; unfortunately Tina doesn't have a way of knowing who all we lost.  Please use "Linux mailing list" on the left to get yourself re-added, sorry!

No smart phone?  Don't like Pokemon?  Want to tote your camera instead?  Just want to join us for the walk&talk?  That's all fine.  As usual, family, friends, and children all welcome.  This one should be dog-friendly too if yours likes to walk, just beware all of the goose poop.

Kyle Gilbertson (IBM LEGO Education Outreach core team member and a prolific volunteer for other efforts as well) has agreed to be a speaker at an upcoming K-LUG meeting. As part of Kyle's volunteering both for ILEO and for other LEGO related STEM outreach he has had the occasion to want to produce instructions for constructing a LEGO model. This is actually difficult to do and have it look like you would expect LEGO instructions to look. Kyle was able to chain several different open source tools together to produce a quality set of instructions. He has volunteered to share the lessons he learned during this process with us.  (And he says that no, it's not a presentation for kids, sorry.)

Build digital 3D LEGO models on your computer. Create build instructions for your design. Learn the tools and avoid pitfalls to produce great results.

This emphasizes LEGO robot models, but this all works for standard studded builds. Using what you learn, consider contributing a robot design and instructions for use in this fall's IBM LEGO Education Outreach classes.

Farm pizza!

[http://dreamacresfarm.org/wood-fired-pizza Dream Acres near Spring Valley], Friday September 27th, 6:45 pm (you're welcome to arrive earlier if your schedule allows, but they're 40 minutes south of Rochester).  They state to expect $15-25/pizza.  It's a working farm, so please leave the dogs at home.  You would need to bring your own beverages and place settings, from the pictures it looks like they'll provide some seating or you can bring your own.  I'm hoping by waiting until late in the season, the bugs will have died down, the tradeoff means 6:45 will be pretty close to sunset although we'll still have twilight.
