K-LUG - Rochester, MN Area Linux Users Group

Note: To request a wiki account, please join the mailing list and post a message.

We can use presentations for upcoming meetings, please see a list of ideas if you're willing but lacking a topic.

LUG News

We generally meet monthly for technical presentations (2nd Thursday of the month, 6 pm, RCTC), and monthly for socializing (varies). We no longer meet monthly for lunches, if you are interested in reviving this tradition please contact an officer.

Did you used to be on our email list and suddenly haven't gotten email for months? We had a glitch and it caused many people to get unsubscribed; unfortunately Tina doesn't have a way of knowing who all we lost. Please use "Linux mailing list" on the left to get yourself re-added, sorry!

RochesterFest lunch: Thursday June 23rd

June downtown lunch at RochesterFest (Soldier's Field track oval), Thursday June 23rd, 11:30 am, weather permitting (rain date TBD). For those of you downtown who aren't up to walking that far (or your schedule doesn't permit the extra time), they are doing free trolley rides again 11-2 from in front of the Marriott Hotel. Hopefully they will publish some coupons for food vendors again this year, if so I'll add a link later.

Planned Social: June 2016, TBD

I'm going to host a yard games + ice cream event, but it'll probably end up in July, May/June has just been too busy (and our lawn mower is currently in the shop waiting to be repaired, so our yard is a field).

Downtown lunch: Thursday July 14th

This is the special IBM day at Thursdays on First (a replacement for an IBM day at the Olmsted County Fair this year), so we should meet for lunch. 11:30 am, East on Historic 3rd Avenue off the corner of the Tap House (formerly Bilotti's), we'll try to find a table in the shade.

Technical Meeting: Thursday July 14th

Robert Nix, on Red Hat Summit. He will talk about what goes on there and what things are announced.

6 pm, in or near RCTC Heintz Center's HA107.

Probably yard games + ice cream at Tina's house, but if you have other requests/ideas please let Tina know. Possibly also a locked room puzzle event, The Norwegian Job because that one is handicapped accessible.

Technical Meeting: Thursday August 11th

We probably won't have a November social unless someone has a specific request, as due to the approaching holiday season we tend to have very poor turnout this month.

Planned Social: December 2016, TBD

Probably a board/card/video game night, any volunteers or suggestions for where to host? This will be a replacement for our December technical meeting.

Technical Meeting: January 12th, 2017

Speaker needed, please let Tina know if you're willing to volunteer. Willing to present but want to know what people have expressed interest in? Check out our requested topics page.

Upcoming Meeting Crisis!

We need some meeting topics (& speakers) for 2016. We'd like to know what you want to see and hear about. Please email Tina or Jon G with suggestions for topics. Should we run some previous sessions again (maybe something you really wanted to see but missed out on)? What type of topics are good, what type are bad? Also see this page for a list of suggested topics http://www.k-lug.org/Meetings
