K-LUG - Rochester, MN Area Linux Users Group

Note: To request a wiki account, please join the mailing list and post a message.

We can use presentations for upcoming meetings, please see a list of ideas if you're willing but lacking a topic.

LUG News

We generally meet monthly for technical presentations (2nd Thursday of the month, 6 pm, RCTC), and monthly for socializing (varies). We no longer meet monthly for lunches, if you are interested in reviving this tradition please contact an officer.

Did you used to be on our email list and suddenly haven't gotten email for months? We had a glitch and it caused many people to get unsubscribed; unfortunately Tina doesn't have a way of knowing who all we lost. Please use "Linux mailing list" on the left to get yourself re-added, sorry!

Technical Meeting: January 12th, 2017

Paul Zellweger and Jason Thompson of ArborWay Labs, on their automatic database application Studio. Handout / presentation outline

ArborWay Labs presents a demonstration of its automatic relational technology or ART Studio

ArborWay Labs will present a live demonstration of its automated relational technology system called the ART Studio. It is a proof of concept that generates database applications automatically using context-sensitive interfaces that guide designers through our step-by-step process. In the first half of our presentation, we will explain how and why our technology breaks new ground with the RDBMS on the white board. Next, we will build a small database application from a 5-table database system that will be posted on our server. The audience will be encouraged to browse and explore the “100 Best TV Episodes database” on their own personal computing devices. This part of the demonstration will be limited to smart phones, tablets, and laptops. Stay tuned for the launch of our smart watch database applications in the Summer’17.

ArborWay Labs is a Rochester, MN based start-up that aims to change the way today’s professionals build and distribute database applications. With ArborWay’s ART Studio, database applications are generated by a design activity that automates the production of SQL, object-relational mapping, and all code that was previously crafted by hand.

We need some meeting topics (& speakers) for 2016. We'd like to know what you want to see and hear about. Please email Tina or Jon G with suggestions for topics. Should we run some previous sessions again (maybe something you really wanted to see but missed out on)? What type of topics are good, what type are bad? Also see this page for a list of suggested topics http://www.k-lug.org/Meetings
