| The month of July is an odd month, so we will be meeting on Thursday, the 14th.
| |
| K-LUG will be hosting PCIGers for a presentation on the python programming
| |
| language.
| |
|
| |
|
| The next Social will be a soldering party in Dennis Delorne's garage. The
| |
| time will be announced as soon as we know when it is. Those who are
| |
| interested in getting together for assembly assistance, tools, etc should
| |
| send email to Dennis Delorne (dennyd@attglobal.net).
| |
|
| |
| Kevin Arhelger was recognized for his MythTV demo with a free movie pass.
| |
| Dennis was likewise thanked for his presentation.
| |
|
| |
| The winner of the K-LUG Challenge was Tina Wood. Tina's answer was
| |
| the most complete. There were quite a few good answers, but hers was
| |
| the best.
| |
|
| |
| The winner of the Puzzler was Kevin Arhelger. He wrote a Bourne shell
| |
| script that executed sed as follows:
| |
|
| |
| sed -e "s/i'/I'/g" -e "s/i /I /g" $1 > $2
| |
|
| |
| Another answer, slightly shorter and shamlessly my favorite,
| |
|
| |
| sed -r -e "s/i( |')/I\1/g"
| |
|
| |
| There were quite a few answers, but Kevin's was probably the best. Tim
| |
| Massaro gets an honorable mention for the most lines of code... Almost, but
| |
| no sticker.
| |
|
| |
| The new Challenge and Puzzler will be posted on the web site in the next
| |
| few days, for those of you who couldn't make it to the meeting.
| |
|
| |
| Dennis Delorne presented information about setting up an LCD character
| |
| display. His notes will be available in the next few days on the K-LUG
| |
| web site. He provided a goodly amount of source code, which will also
| |
| be available on the web site shortly.
| |
|
| |
| LCD Load Meter kits were handed out. Mark Harris, Mark Diez, Steve Fox,
| |
| amd Mark Clancy should contact Kevin Neffabout picking up their kits.
| |
|
| |
| We have several extra kits. Please contact Kevin Neff if you are interested
| |
| in a 2x12 LCD character module that interfaces to the parallel port.
| |
| NeffK@IEEE.Org or 507-252-0579.
| |
|
| |
| Finally, Steve Fox contacted me a few days ago to tell me that he has
| |
| been busy and doesn't have time to organize a linux boot camp. This is
| |
| probably for the better--it's too big of a job for one person. I think
| |
| the boot camp is a great activity for our club. I suggest that we form
| |
| a committee that can organize a boot camp. Are *you* interested in
| |
| helping out? Do you want to get involved in your (geek) community? Let
| |
| me know via e-mail or talk to me at the next meeting.
| |
|
| |
| Sincerely --Kevin Neff
