This park has a nice playground for the littles, picnic tables, and room to fly kites, as well as usually being unpopulated.  The lack of trees and being on top of a hill mean it's pretty bug free (not that we should hopefully have to worry about that in April) even when there's not enough breeze to fly the kites.

<strike>We have some options.

If there's enough snow, there will be a cardboard sled challenge on Saturday February 4th, as part of WinterFest.  This is being organized by Gamehaven Boy Scouts, we could spectate at Willow Creek Golf Course.  This year's flier is available at http://www.gamehavenbsa.org/documents/CardboardSledChallengePoster2012.pdf .  (Last year's flier is available [http://www.gamehavenbsa.org/documents/2011sledflyer2.pdf here]).  It looks like 9:45 am would be a good time to arrive, to see the sleds before they are raced/demolished.</strike>

The Cardboard Sled Challenge was cancelled due to lack of snow.  Star Wars Episode 1 will be released later this month in 3D, we will be doing dinner and a movie for our February social.  Input on general time (weeknight, weekend matinee, or weekend evening) and preferred restaurant would be appreciated.

=== Upcoming Meeting Crisis! ===
Well, not really a crisis, but we do need some meeting topics (& speakers) for 2012. We'd like to know what you want to see and hear about. Please email Tina or Tim with suggestions for topics. Should we run some previous sessions again (maybe something you really wanted to see but missed out on)? What type of topics are good, what type are bad?  Also see this page for a list of suggested topics http://www.k-lug.org/Meetings

We generally meet monthly for technical presentations (2nd Thursday of the month, 6 pm, virtual), and monthly for socializing (varies). We no longer meet monthly for lunches, if you are interested in reviving this tradition please contact an officer.

Outdoor Social: Saturday April 25

In celebration of National Kite Month, bring your kites and come join us as we try to fly them.

Saturday April 25th

2 pm

Location: That park by Steve Fox's house, officially known as Pine Ridge Estates Park, on Redwood Lane SW.

This park has a nice playground for the littles, picnic tables, and room to fly kites, as well as usually being unpopulated. The lack of trees and being on top of a hill mean it's pretty bug free (not that we should hopefully have to worry about that in April) even when there's not enough breeze to fly the kites.

Please bring your family and friends who might want to hang out. Bring your own kites. If you don't want to sit at the picnic tables or on the playground equipment, bring your own folding chair. And bring your own beverage. Since it's April, we're skipping the traditional ice cream.

Litter Bit Better in-person social (outside), Tuesday April 28th

6:00 - 7:30 pm

Bags provided. You bring your own gloves, grabbers, and sense of civic duty. Some pond shoreline. Unlike our fall CITOs, in the spring we've got plenty of daylight.

As usual we are teaming up with the geocachers to avoid being overwhelmed by garbage.

Virtual Social: Thursday May 14th

Upcoming Outdoor Socials TBD

We're planning pickleball, and a geocaching hike on a new trail at Northern Heights Park (start on the WSW side and walk clockwise).
