Recently several [http://k-lug.org K-Lug] and [http://www.pcig.info PCIG] members entered a Maker Contest called Red Bull Creation 2013. We were given an Arduino Shield (called the TurBULL Encabulator and 5 Meters of  RGB LED light strips and 1 Meter of addressable RGB LED light strips. We bought 4 more addressable light strips and went to work...creating an invention of Peter Shabinos ...a touch sensitive Rock Climbing Wall called the WALL-O-TRON. The Byron High School FIRST Robotics Competition team, just back from the Minnesota 10000 Lakes Regional, will fill us in on their experience in this exciting celebration of science, engineering and technology.

5 min Overview of FRC and Byron Robotics
This park has a nice playground for the littles, picnic tables, and room to fly kites, as well as usually being unpopulated.  The lack of trees and being on top of a hill mean it's pretty bug free (not that we should hopefully have to worry about that in April) even when there's not enough breeze to fly the kites.


5 min Technical stuff on Bot
Please bring your family and friends who might want to hang out.  Bring your own kites.  If you don't want to sit at the picnic tables or on the playground equipment, bring your own folding chair.  And bring your own beverage.  Since it's April, we're skipping the traditional ice cream.

There will be a "driver station" and arena mock up setup.

That will allow a few of us to try our luck at scoring within the standard 2 minute period.  
Bags provided. You bring your own gloves, grabbers, and sense of civic duty. Some pond shoreline.  Unlike our fall CITOs, in the spring we've got plenty of daylight.


The team only has two batteries so will probably run on last about 20 minutes or so.
As usual we are [https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GCBM2PG teaming up with the geocachers] to avoid being overwhelmed by garbage.

Outdoor Social: Saturday April 25

In celebration of National Kite Month, bring your kites and come join us as we try to fly them.

Saturday April 25th

Location: That park by Steve Fox's house, officially known as Pine Ridge Estates Park, on Redwood Lane SW.

This park has a nice playground for the littles, picnic tables, and room to fly kites, as well as usually being unpopulated.
