| === "Technical Meeting": Friday December 10th, 6:30 pm ===
| |
| Due to lack of input as well as former hosting sites such as p0wned having gone out of business, Tina is hosting a gaming night at her house. Email her if you need address and/or directions. Start time is 6:30 pm. Note that this is NOT our usual second Thursday, we pushed it back one night so people don't have to deal with getting to work in the morning.
| |
|
| |
|
| We play whatever you bring. Please consider bringing a folding table and chairs, board games, card games, video games, video game system accessories, and/or snacks and beverages. RSVP's of the types of stuff you're bringing would be appreciated so we don't have overstocks of some items such as four people hauling their folding table and chairs, or everyone bringing chips.

| Post social report:
| | My experience with going on Monday night last year was that on-site parking was easy and free, some of the food trucks were open (including the milkshake stand), and many of the animals were already present including horse showings. I’ve also been told that many craft projects will already be present, so we can do a scavenger hunt for projects by people we know. |
| 9 folks (and a puppy) attended the PCIG/K-Lug August social. This was a peaceful canoe ride down the Zumbro River from Oronoco to the Sandy Point landing. Most of the crew enjoyed geocaching along the way too. There were [http://www.pcig.info/uploads/Newsletter/GeoCrewSm.jpg pictures] taken!

| The featured speakers this month are José de Leon of Winona State University and Bonnie Gabrick, a Winona State University student in Management Information Systems. They will talk about iPhone web development with the rapid web-development framework Ruby on Rails. Bonnie and José worked on a database-backed site in Rails, describing the technology inventory in each classroom at Winona State, and developed a mobile version of the website that exists alongside the default site. Like Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, two cool technologies that go great together!

Bring your own gloves, and anyone interested in geocaching the park can do both at the same time (plan is to get a few FTF options out of there to encourage the geocachers). Since we're participating in [http://www.rneighbors.org/?p=2688 LBB], the City provides the empty trash bags, picks up the full bags, and covers the disposal costs.

| SameTime 3D allows users to collaborate via voice, textchat, avatars and various meeting specific tools. Upload a presentation and invite others to join you in a virtual 3D meeting space.
| |
|
| |
| Why use 3D for Meetings?
| |
|
| |
| Meetings are about people getting together to do things - with 3D meetings you see all the others as avatars throughout the meeting.
| |
|
| |
| Social interactions are more natural with avatars. The expressiveness of avatars help co-workers communicate in a natural and personal way that helps them get to know each other - leading to more trust and better collaboration.
| |
|
| |
| Work in 3D. Organize in 3D, build in 3D, present and interact in 3D

Joyce Park, in the SE corner of town. Use the on-street parking on 15th St SE to be near the LBB-required waiver and bags.
Bags provided. You bring your own gloves, grabbers, and sense of civic duty. Some pond shoreline, yes woods (mowed park + woods = 35.2 acres), and you might want a headlamp because sunset is at 6:41 pm.
As usual we are teaming up with the geocachers to avoid being overwhelmed by garbage.

Olmsted County Fair night! 6 pm.
My experience with going on Monday night last year was that on-site parking was easy and free, some of the food trucks were open (including the milkshake stand), and many of the animals were already present including horse showings. I’ve also been told that many craft projects will already be present, so we can do a scavenger hunt for projects by people we know.
Map here. At 6 pm we’ll meet at the parking lot (red star on the map, central to the “block”), and if you want to catch up to us a little later, try around the Graham Arena buildings adjacent to the green star on the south end of the fairgrounds.

Outdoor Social: Thursday June 26th, 11:30 am
Lunch at RochesterFest. We'll be sitting at a picnic table on the far side of the tent from the music, to hopefully lower the decibel level enough to still talk. Also trying to get line of sight on the pet events, like frisbee dogs.
Food trailers are supposed to be open by 11 am, 11:30 am will give us a little better chance at getting parking.

Mini golf outside social, Wednesday May 14th
6 pm
Blue Lagoon mini golf, the new mini golf place that opened late last fall, on the NW side of town
Unlike most of our events, this social is not free, pricing is here. The second round is significantly cheaper ($5/person), so if we finish in good time we might try to squeeze in a second round before they close at 8 pm.

Outdoor Social: Geocaching hike, equinox weekend, Friday March 21st
6 pm
We'll start at the dog park just north of Essex Park (red circle) for a short walk. Then depending on the walking conditions, we'll walk or drive to the two caches NE of that dog park (orange circle), and then down to the one Essex Park cache that we haven't chased recently (yellow circle).
Join us at the March 13th meeting to help pick a day/time/location to help us meet the equinox souvenir criteria.
Afterwards, we'll drive to 25th Street and 25th Avenue NW, in the residential neighborhood just south of IBM park, for a locationless geocache.
