Also, thank you for your efforts at our fall trash cleanup.  The Public Works Department gave these summary measures of the city-wide efforts:  "Over 620 pounds of litter was collected by A Litter Bit Better volunteers during the fall event. An estimated 1.179 volunteers picked up 64 sites that covered many locations around Rochester."  This was 12 loads of trash, removed from our environment!

If you're reading along at home, be sure to check the speaker notes where a lot of what I said is at least hinted at, if not written down.

-Murder mystery.  The host needs to buy a kit at a gaming store to get the event started.

The video I didn't play due to time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Zyibi6niWA
-Jim Henderson, "Silicon Valley" documentary
Another video of another epic outing a friend of mine went on: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NvmiE0yhYG8 and the second one, filmed by Niantic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D92gLsvbXvI (slicker production values, but more content free)

Ignore the fact that all of those are green operations, the so called "enlightened" (remember what we learned, they're the alien invaders seeking to crush humanity) seem to be a bit more vain about filming their victories. The resistance has mounted a number of equally epic operations... we just tend not to toot our own horns. (and yes, my self imposed restriction on trying to recruit is over.)
-Bowlocity laser tag. 5-6 people minimum needed.

RESIST. Its Humanity's Only Hope.
-Liquid nitrogen ice cream. This needs a non-Tina organizer.  Dennis DeLorme has 2 recipes.  We need safety equipment and someone trained enough to keep us from freezing ourselves.

=== "Technical Meeting", aka ice cream social:  Sunday July 20th ===
No speaker volunteers (typical for summer) and no officer energy to kick behinds, we're having ice cream and flying kites instead.

Location[https://www.google.com/maps/place/Redwood+Ln+SW,+Rochester,+MN+55902/@43.989365,-92.4843012,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x87f758cbe6ddd805:0xcbd56f452d52bbef That park by Steve Fox's house], officially known as Pine Ridge Estates Park, on Redwood Lane SW.
=== Outdoor SocialThursday June 27th, 11:45 am ===
Lunch at RochesterFest. We'll be sitting at a picnic table on the far side of the tent from the music, to hopefully lower the decibel level enough to still talk.

1:30 pm
Food trailers are supposed to be open by noon, 11:45 am will give us a little better chance at getting parking.

This park has a nice playground for the littles, picnic tables, and room to fly kites, as well as usually being unpopulated.  The lack of trees and being on top of a hill mean it's pretty bug free even when there's not enough breeze to fly the kites.

Please bring your family and friends who might want to hang out.  If you don't want to sit at the picnic tables or on the playground equipment, bring your own folding chair.  And bring your own beverage.

Small scale computing is becoming more affordable as technology
advances. For low cost simple 8 (or occasionally 16) bit micocontrollers
were the norm. This trend lead to the Arduino microcontroller on a
board. The low cost and popular support have made it a very popular system.

A few years ago the Raspberry Pi project was started to bring the cost

followed by the Beaglebone Black, a lower cost version of the Beaglebone
family. These new systems, which have price points under $50, are
significantly different than the Arduino level systems. They have
similar I/O capabilities but much more computational power than the
Arduino. They are also more complex to use effectively.

In this presentation I will briefly compare the differences and than

discuss some Beaglebone Black features. Unlike the Arduino, development
can be done directly on the Beaglebone as a stand alone system. I will
also talk about VNC which allows a PC to remotely control the Beaglebone
GUI.

Meet at 12:30 at the Rochester Art Center.  Saturday February 1st.

The admission to exhibits is open and free from 10-5.  The snow globe making activity runs from 1-4.  So those who want to participate in snow globes will have a half an hour to browse the exhibits before showing up for the first round of instructions at 1 pm, in the 3rd floor studios.  Anyone wanting to avoid snow globes can continue to browse the exhibits.  I'm having a hard time with the exhibit schedule on the [http://rochesterartcenter.org/exhibitions/exhibitions.html art center's website], as it looks like most of the current exhibits ended recently and they haven't updated their website with what's new.  So if what they're exhibiting matters to you, keep an eye on their website or give them a call, and let the rest of us know what you find out.

Lunch at RochesterFest. We'll be sitting at a picnic table on the far side of the tent from the music, to hopefully lower the decibel level enough to still talk.

Outside Social: Friday March 22nd, 6 pm

Geocaching! The March equinox is an excuse to find 3 geocaches during the week of the equinox. If you've never geocached before, this is a great time to join us. Wear your hiking shoes, long sturdy pants, and otherwise dress for the weather.

We will chase 3 multi-caches that start to the east and north of St Marys Hospital https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC6G6R5 https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC5XDH0 https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC5XEQV

If we have any DNF's, first choice replacement will be: https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC56K4K

I skimmed through the logs, and none of our regulars seem to have found these, so hopefully everyone will qualify for the achievement.

Parking: There is a limited quantity of 2 hour parking in St. Marys Park proper. However, the neighborhood parking permit restriction opens back up starting at 5:30, so by starting at 6 pm you should be able to park on the street (and not be competing with employees for spots) for the duration of our explorations.
